Biography

Born in 1948 in Washington D.C. Mallinson received a BFA from the University of Georgia in Athens in 1970. She has been featured in many group and solo exhibitions including solo exhibitions at the National Academy of Sciences and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.  Mallinson’s work is included in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles Museum of Art, Newport Harbor Art Museum, the National Academy of Sciences, and BMI Software in Houston, Texas.  For the past fifteen years, Mallinson has taught painting, drawing and criticism in many of the colleges and universities in the Southern California area including UCLA, UCSB, California State University, Art Center College of Design, and Otis Art Institute.  She is currently a member of the Claremont Graduate University Faculty. This would be the first piece by Constance Mallinson to enter the permanent collection.    (SJMA Collections Committee, 6/2007)
